Kenyon Dobie was good Sam trying to stop Oscar Solarzano: prosecutors

A recent incident on a light rail train in Charlotte, North Carolina, has left a young man, Kenyon Dobie, fighting for his life after being stabbed by a homeless illegal migrant. Dobie, a good Samaritan who was trying to protect fellow passengers, was attacked by Honduran national Oscar Solarzano, 33, who was drunk and causing a disturbance on the train. Dobie stood up to confront Solarzano, who then stabbed him in the chest, leaving him in critical condition with a tube draining blood from his lungs.

Solarzano, who had been banned from the light rail system due to previous arrests and convictions, including robbery and two deportations, fled the scene but was later apprehended by police. He admitted to the attack, which comes just four months after another tragic incident on a Charlotte train. In August, 23-year-old Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zarutska was stabbed to death by a homeless career criminal while she was on the train.

Assistant Secretary of Homeland Security Tricia Lockwood revealed that Solarzano had been deported from the US twice before illegally returning to the country for a third time. His criminal history includes prior arrests for aggravated battery, resisting arrest, using a false ID, and convictions for robbery and illegal re-entry. Solarzano now faces charges of first-degree attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, breaking and entering, carrying a concealed weapon, and being intoxicated and disruptive.

The attack on Dobie serves as a stark reminder of the dangers faced by passengers on public transportation, especially in light of recent violent incidents on Charlotte trains. The community has been shaken by these senseless acts of violence, and authorities are working to ensure the safety of passengers and prevent future tragedies. As Dobie fights for his life in the hospital, the community has rallied around him, with a GoFundMe page set up to help cover his medical expenses.

The shocking attacks on innocent passengers highlight the need for increased security measures on public transportation and the importance of addressing mental health issues and homelessness in our communities. The tragic loss of Iryna Zarutska and the near-fatal stabbing of Kenyon Dobie are painful reminders of the vulnerability of individuals who rely on public transportation for their daily commute. As the community mourns these senseless acts of violence, there is a renewed call for justice and accountability for those responsible.
