Kevin Durant has access restored to Coinbase bitcoin account after years

NBA superstar Kevin Durant has finally regained access to his stash of bitcoins after being locked out of his Coinbase account for years. The good news was shared by Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong in a recent social media post, putting an end to Durant’s crypto woes.

Just a few days prior, Durant and his agent Rich Kleiman made light of the situation at CNBC’s Game Plan conference in Los Angeles. Kleiman jokingly mentioned the struggle they faced with Coinbase’s account recovery process, but added that the surge in bitcoin’s value over the years had actually worked in their favor.

Durant first dabbled in bitcoins back in 2016, following a dinner conversation with his Golden State Warriors teammates. At that time, bitcoin was trading at a modest price range of $360 to $1,000. Fast forward to today, the digital asset is valued at around $116,000, as per CoinGecko’s data.

While Durant and Kleiman refrained from disclosing the exact amount of bitcoins held by the basketball star on Coinbase, their experience shed light on the challenges faced by users in accessing customer support on the platform. Several users have reported difficulties in retrieving their accounts and resolving other issues, prompting calls for Coinbase to revamp its support services.

Coinbase has faced criticism in the past, including instances where cybercriminals bribed customer support agents to leak personal data. In response to the latest concerns, Armstrong assured users of the company’s commitment to enhancing customer support quality. He emphasized the importance of improving products to reduce the need for support, while also ensuring a faster and more efficient support experience for users.

As Coinbase works towards enhancing its customer service, users can access around-the-clock assistance through a hotline and self-help resources for basic troubleshooting. The focus is on providing a seamless and reliable support system for all users, including high-profile clients like Kevin Durant.
