Key, Morgan both have double-doubles and No. 17 Kentucky women pull away from Central Michigan

Following a strong second half performance, No. 17 Kentucky secured an 82-55 victory over Central Michigan on Sunday in Lexington, Ky. Teonni Key and Tonie Morgan both had double-doubles to lead the Wildcats to victory.

Key recorded 17 points and 11 rebounds, while Morgan contributed 12 points and 11 assists for Kentucky (10-1). Jordan Obi and Clara Strack each added 14 points, with Strack also making an impact on the defensive end with four rebounds, four assists, three blocks, and three steals. Asia Boone chipped in 11 points off the bench for the Wildcats.

Central Michigan (5-4) had Madi Morson leading the way with 12 points, followed by Ayanna-Sarai Darrington with 11 points. Despite shooting 57% in the first half compared to Kentucky’s 56%, the Chippewas found themselves trailing by seven points at halftime. However, their shooting percentage plummeted to 20% in the second half as the Wildcats outscored them 37-17.

Kentucky took control of the game in the third quarter, scoring the first 12 points to extend their lead to 19 points. They maintained a double-digit lead throughout the rest of the game, limiting Central Michigan to just three field goals in the fourth quarter and leading by as much as 30 points at one point.

Looking ahead, Kentucky will face Belmont on Sunday, while Central Michigan is set to play Valparaiso on Dec. 17.
