Kiefer Sutherland case on hold amid further investigation into alleged altercation with ride-share driver, DA says

The investigation into actor Kiefer Sutherland following his arrest last month on suspicion of felony criminal threats is still ongoing, with charges yet to be filed, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office. The “24” star was set to appear in court on Monday, but the case was sent back to police for further investigation.

Sutherland was taken into custody on Jan. 12 after police received a call about an alleged assault involving a ride-share driver in Los Angeles. He was later released on $50,000 bond. The actor has not publicly commented on the incident.

Law enforcement sources revealed that the driver reported Sutherland allegedly punched him multiple times and attempted to choke him. Fortunately, no injuries requiring medical treatment were reported, and Sutherland was not arrested on suspicion of assault.

Kiefer Sutherland, known for his roles in “Designated Survivor” and “24,” is the son of the late actors Donald Sutherland and Shirley Douglas. He has yet to address the allegations publicly.

Overall, the investigation is ongoing, and Sutherland’s court appearance has been postponed as authorities continue to gather information. The actor’s future legal proceedings remain uncertain as the case unfolds.
