‘Kimmel’ Guest Host Nicole Byer Reveals Why She’s Cool With Trump’s New Kennedy Center Gig
The stand-up comedian shifted the spotlight to a clip featuring Trump, who, during a lengthy press briefing where he unveiled the honorees for the center’s 2025 event, admitted that he initially questioned the “fools” who requested him to be the host before eventually accepting the offer.
“But hey, I’m actually happy he’s emceeing this event!” exclaimed Byer after the crowd expressed disapproval of the president’s appearance in the video.
“I mean, let him take the reins at the Emmys, the Grammys, a podcast with Theo Von! He can be the master of ceremonies at an Applebee’s, anything to divert his attention from steering this country into chaos!”
Byer expressed her reluctance to rush to conclusions and proposed that Trump, who was elected as the center’s chairman in February after dismissing its board of trustees and installing his loyalists, might “knock it out of the park” in the role.
She then introduced a spoof advertisement for the ceremony honoring “non-woke” recipients like the “late, great Hannibal Lecter” and Diddy, with special guest appearances from Skeletor and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.
“Only on CBS, because I made them my subordinate!” mimicked a voice resembling Trump in the video.
