Kohl’s to name Michael Bender as permanent CEO: report
Kohl’s Expected to Name Michael Bender as CEO
According to Bloomberg News, Kohl’s Corp. is set to appoint Michael Bender as its permanent chief executive as early as Monday. The decision comes after the board interviewed several candidates and ultimately chose Bender for the role.
While Reuters could not verify the report, Kohl’s has yet to respond to requests for comment. Similarly, Michael Bender has not commented on the role change.
In May, Kohl’s fired former CEO Ashley Buchanan after an investigation revealed his undisclosed personal relationship with a vendor. This move marked the third CEO change in three years for the struggling department-store retailer.
Following Buchanan’s ouster, Michael Bender was named interim CEO, and the search for a permanent chief executive began shortly after.
Bender, who has been a director on Kohl’s board since July 2019, brings over 30 years of senior leadership experience from his time at Walmart, Victoria’s Secret, and Eyemart Express.
