Kremlin says Putin agreed to Trump meeting ‘in the coming days’
Following recent developments, the Kremlin announced that Russian President Vladimir Putin has agreed to meet with U.S. President Donald Trump. However, a specific date and location for the meeting have not yet been confirmed.
Putin’s adviser, Yuri Ushakov, stated that the meeting between Putin and Trump is scheduled to take place in the coming days, with preparations for the summit already underway. While there was initially talk of a trilateral meeting involving Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, it has been clarified that the upcoming meeting will only involve Trump and Putin.
Although the venue for the meeting has been agreed upon, the Kremlin has not disclosed the location yet. Ushakov hinted at the possibility of hosting the meeting in a country with friendly relations with Russia, mentioning the President of the United Arab Emirates as a potential host.
No specific date or location has been confirmed by either Russia or the United States at this time. White House special envoy Steve Witkoff, who recently met with Putin, discussed the urgency of reaching a resolution with Ukraine before Trump’s looming sanctions deadline.
President Trump expressed optimism about the progress made during the meeting between Witkoff and Putin, calling it “highly productive.” He further emphasized the importance of ending the conflict and working towards a peaceful resolution in the days to come.
In a previous statement, Trump had warned of imposing additional economic measures, including sanctions on Russian fossil fuel export customers like India and China, if Putin did not agree to a ceasefire by a specified date.
As discussions continue between the two leaders, the global community eagerly awaits further updates on the potential meeting between President Putin and President Trump. Stay tuned for more developments on this evolving diplomatic situation.
