‘Laid’ Canceled After One Season at Peacock

Peacock’s decision to cancel the series “Laid” after just one season has left fans disappointed. The show, which starred Stephanie Hsu as Ruby Yao, followed the story of a woman who discovers that her former sexual partners are mysteriously dying in the order in which she slept with them. With the help of her best friend and roommate AJ, played by Zosia Mamet, Ruby sets out to uncover the cause of these deaths and warn those who are still alive.

The cast of “Laid” also included Michael Angarano and Tommy Martinez as series regulars, with guest appearances from Andre Hyland, Elizabeth Bowen, Olivia Holt, and others. The show was based on the Australian series of the same name and was developed for Peacock by Nahnatchka Khan and Sally Bradford McKenna. Executive producers included Hsu, Khan, McKenna, John Davis, John Fox, Jennifer Carreras, Marieke Hardy, Kirsty Fisher, and Liz Watts.

Despite its talented cast and creative team, “Laid” failed to garner enough viewership to justify a second season. The decision to cancel the show was a difficult one, but ultimately, Peacock decided to move in a different direction with its programming. Fans of the series have expressed their disappointment on social media, with many calling for the show to be picked up by another network or streaming service.

While “Laid” may have come to an untimely end, the impact it had on its audience and the industry will not be forgotten. The show’s unique premise and talented cast brought a fresh perspective to the world of television, and its cancellation serves as a reminder of the challenges faced by new and innovative shows in the ever-changing landscape of entertainment.
