Larry Summers Torches Trump’s Bill With 2 Damning Questions
Former U.S. Treasury Secretary Larry Summers didn’t hold back when discussing Donald Trump’s controversial spending and taxation legislation, dubbed the Big Beautiful Bill. In an interview on ABC News’ “This Week,” Summers expressed his deep concern for the future of the country, stating that he had never been as embarrassed for his country as he was on July Fourth, the day Trump signed the bill into law.
Summers highlighted the potential negative impacts of the legislation, including higher interest rates, cutbacks in electricity subsidies, reduced availability of housing, increased healthcare costs passed on to consumers, and the risk of inflation and recession. He questioned the priorities of the bill, pointing out that it primarily benefits the wealthiest individuals at the expense of the middle class.
Summers concluded that the bill was a “shameful act” by Congress and the president, warning that it would set the country back. His strong words serve as a reminder of the importance of thoughtful and responsible decision-making in government.
