Law firm WilmerHale expands in downtown Denver tower
WilmerHale’s Denver Office Expanding Rapidly
WilmerHale ventured into Denver 12 years ago with just two attorneys, but now, the firm’s partner-in-charge, Mindy Sooter, reveals that their downtown office is bursting at the seams.
From initially occupying half a floor in their building, the firm has now expanded to the full floor and is in need of more space. The recent lease of an additional half floor at 1225 17th St. brings their total footprint to 35,000 square feet, with a build-out cost of nearly $1.2 million.
Sooter anticipates sustained growth and has factored in the necessity for immediate space, as well as room for future expansion within the same building as the firm continues to grow.
With 40 attorneys in its Denver office, WilmerHale operates from a dozen offices globally, focusing on the convergence of government, technology, and business.
Employees are required to be in the office four days a week, but many Denver staff members are opting to come in more frequently, hence the need for extra space.
Despite considering other options, WilmerHale decided that staying put in their current building would be most beneficial for both the firm and its clients, citing the building’s planned renovations and central location as key factors.
The building’s owner, Lone Star Funds from Dallas, Texas, acquired the property for $132 million last year and is set to revamp the ground floor, outdoor plaza, and third floor, according to public records.
