‘Law & Order,’ ‘Law & Order: SVU’ Renewed at NBC

NBC has officially renewed both “Law & Order” and “Law & Order: SVU” for the 2025-2026 broadcast season. This news comes as a relief to fans of the long-running crime dramas, as they continue to be fan favorites.
“Law & Order” will be returning for its 25th season, while “SVU” will be back for its 27th season. These shows are the last remaining Dick Wolf productions on broadcast television that were awaiting renewal. NBC has previously renewed all three of the “One Chicago” shows, while CBS has made the decision to cancel two of the Wolf Entertainment-produced “FBI” shows and ordered a new show in that franchise starring Tom Ellis.
In addition to the two flagship shows, Wolf Entertainment also has “Law & Order: Organized Crime” starring Christopher Meloni, which recently launched its fifth season on Peacock. The show continues to be a hit among viewers and critics alike.
The cast of “Law & Order” includes Hugh Dancy, Tony Goldwyn, Odelya Halevi, Mehcad Brooks, Reid Scott, and Maura Tierney. The show is executive produced by Dick Wolf, Rick Eid, Pamela Wechsler, Alex Hall, and Peter Jankowski.
On the other hand, “SVU” stars Mariska Hargitay, Ice T, and Peter Scanavino. It was recently announced that Juliana Martinez and Octavio Pisano will be exiting the show at the end of this season. The show is executive produced by Dick Wolf, David Graziano, Julie Martin, Mariska Hargitay, Norberto Barba, Kenneth Brown, and Peter Jankowski. Michele Fazekas will be joining the show as showrunner for Season 27.
Both shows are produced by Universal Television in association with Wolf Entertainment, showcasing the strong partnership between the two production companies.
As NBC gears up for its upfront presentation to advertisers in New York on May 12, there are still a number of decisions pending regarding renewals or cancellations for other shows. This includes freshman dramas like “Suits LA,” “Brilliant Minds,” “Grosse Pointe Garden Society,” and “The Hunting Party,” as well as sophomore shows like “The Irrational” and “Found.” Comedy series “Lopez vs. Lopez” and “Night Court” also await their fate as NBC plans its upcoming lineup for the new broadcast season.
Overall, fans of “Law & Order” and “SVU” can look forward to more thrilling episodes and gripping storylines as the shows continue to captivate audiences for years to come.
