Sam Rivers — the bassist for the rock-rap group Limp Bizkit — has passed away, as confirmed in an official statement posted on the band’s Instagram account.

The band announced the heartbreaking news on Saturday evening, revealing that Sam Rivers had died earlier in the day, referring to him as their “heartbeat.”

Describing Sam as more than just a bass player, the band expressed that he was “pure magic, the pulse beneath every song, the calm in the chaos, the soul in the sound.”

Aside from his musical talents, the band emphasized that Sam was a once-in-a-lifetime individual and a legend among legends.

The band’s message concluded with, “Rest easy, brother. Your music never ends.” No specific cause of death was disclosed.

Sam Rivers, who was a pivotal member of Limp Bizkit, had a significant impact on the music industry. He collaborated closely with drummer John Otto and vocalist Fred Durst, forming the original lineup of the band in the early 1990s.

With the addition of guitarist Wes Borland and DJ Lethal in 1996, Limp Bizkit solidified their lineup and went on to achieve immense success over the next three decades, releasing several acclaimed albums.

Some of the band’s most popular tracks include “Rollin’ (Air Raid Vehicle),” “Take A Look Around,” “My Way,” “Behind Blue Eyes,” “Nookie,” “Hot Dog,” and “Break Stuff,” with the latter garnering nearly 1 billion streams on Spotify.

In 2015, Rivers temporarily departed from the group due to health issues related to excessive drinking, which led to liver disease. Following a liver transplant, he reunited with Limp Bizkit in 2018.

Sam Rivers tragically passed away at the age of 48, leaving behind a legacy of groundbreaking music and unforgettable performances.

Rest in peace, Sam Rivers.
