Long Island ‘sports dad’ brutally attacked over measly $20 outside NYC’s Beacon Theatre
A heartbreaking incident occurred outside Manhattan’s Beacon Theatre, where a Long Island “sports dad” named Sean Llewellyn was viciously attacked by a street vendor over a $20 purchase. This brutal assault left Llewellyn with a traumatic brain injury, as reported by police sources and his family.
The incident took place on the night of November 30, right after Llewellyn had attended a concert at the iconic venue on Broadway near West 75th Street. Llewellyn attempted to make a purchase from a street vendor selling knickknacks outside the theatre. After handing over $20 and expecting change, the vendor ran off with the money, prompting Llewellyn to chase after him.
Unfortunately, the situation escalated quickly as the vendor was joined by several others who proceeded to physically assault Llewellyn. The attack was so severe that Llewellyn had to be hospitalized with a traumatic brain injury and a broken eye socket. It’s worth noting that no weapons were used during the altercation.
As Llewellyn faces a challenging road to recovery, with upcoming surgery and medical expenses looming, his family has set up a GoFundMe page to seek financial assistance. Described as a dedicated family man, proud sports dad, and beloved “fun coach,” Llewellyn is the primary provider for his family, which includes three young boys at home.
Llewellyn, a youth hockey coach from Long Beach, and his wife Shannon are highly respected members of their community, known for their selfless acts of service and dedication to helping others in need. Now, in their time of crisis, the community has an opportunity to show their support and give back to this deserving family.
Despite the gravity of the situation, no arrests have been made in connection to the attack as of Friday. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the vulnerability individuals face in public spaces and the importance of community support during times of adversity.
