LSU lands No. 1 college football recruit Lamar Brown in huge get

The top recruit in the 2026 class, Lamar Brown, has officially committed to LSU, his home state school. The five-star defensive tackle made the announcement by donning an LSU cap and declaring his allegiance to the Tigers. Brown, who hails from Baton Rouge, chose LSU over SEC rivals Texas and Texas A&M, with sources revealing that the decision came down to the wire between LSU and Texas A&M.

Standing at 6-foot-4 and weighing 285 pounds, Brown is not only a standout football player but also excels in track and field, competing in discus and shot put events. In football, Brown has predominantly focused on defense in recent seasons, racking up an impressive 91 tackles and eight sacks in his varsity career.

Looking ahead to his time at LSU, Brown expressed excitement about playing at Death Valley on Saturday nights and his ultimate goal of winning a National Championship. Joining a star-studded recruiting class that includes Tristen Keys and Trenton Henderson, Brown adds to the talent pool at LSU, which is ranked seventh in the nation for the 2026 class.

As Brown prepares to join the Tigers, LSU is gearing up for a successful 2025 season with quarterback Garrett Nussmeier leading the charge. With a strong transfer class coming in, LSU is poised to make a deep run in the upcoming season and potentially secure a spot in the College Football Playoff. Head coach Brian Kelly is looking to build on the team’s successes and lead them to championship glory in the near future.
