Machine Gun Kelly Turned Down Sinners Role Over Racial Slur
Machine Gun Kelly Recalls Missed Opportunity for Role in Ryan Cooler’s Film ‘Sinners’
Machine Gun Kelly recently revealed that he was close to landing a role in Ryan Cooler’s acclaimed movie, Sinners. However, the singer-turned-actor encountered a major hurdle that prevented him from securing the part.
During an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, Machine Gun Kelly shared that he was supposed to audition for the role of a vampire in Sinners. Specifically, he was set to play the second vampire in the film, a character who utters a controversial word during the audition. Kelly made it clear that he refused to say the offensive word, which ultimately cost him the role.
Despite this setback, Machine Gun Kelly remains hopeful about his acting aspirations, stating that he believes in “universal timing” and trusts that the right opportunities will come his way in due time.
Reflecting on his missed opportunities in the film industry, Kelly admitted, “There’s been plenty of movies that come out that I was like, ah, I was supposed to be in that, or I did auditions for that.” One such role he mentioned was that of Bert, a KKK member who transforms into a vampire in Sinners, a role that ultimately went to Peter Dreimanis.
In addition to his acting endeavors, Machine Gun Kelly recently welcomed his first daughter, Saga Blade, with ex-partner Megan Fox. Despite their separation in November 2024, Kelly remains dedicated to co-parenting his children, including his daughter Casie from a previous relationship.
Speaking about his role as a father, Kelly emphasized the importance of his children in his life. He shared that his daughters are his top priority and that he finds fulfillment in being a father. The singer also revealed that he enjoys singing to his newborn daughter, Saga Blade, with one of his songs, “Cliché,” being a favorite choice for serenading her.
Machine Gun Kelly and Megan Fox’s relationship has been a topic of public interest since they first met on the set of Midnight in the Switchgrass in 2020. Although the couple got engaged in 2022, they announced their separation in late 2024, around the time Fox was expecting their child.
Kelly’s emotional journey as a father and an artist is evident in his music, with songs like “Cliché” possibly alluding to his past experiences and relationships. Despite the ups and downs in his personal and professional life, Machine Gun Kelly remains focused on his passion for music and acting, eagerly awaiting the next opportunity to showcase his talents on the big screen.
