Malcolm-Jamal Warner‘s body is set to return to Los Angeles after the completion of an autopsy, with his remains now released to his family, as per sources with direct knowledge.
The actor’s body was handed over by the Judicial Morgue on Wednesday morning following the autopsy’s conclusion. It is scheduled to depart Costa Rica on Thursday and arrive in Los Angeles on Friday morning.
The U.S. Embassy is facilitating the repatriation of the body to the United States in collaboration with the family.
An insider revealed that the actor was in Costa Rica with his daughter for a home-schooling program. While his wife had been in the country with them a few weeks prior to his tragic passing, she was not present in Costa Rica during the incident.
Reports indicate that Malcolm’s wife received the devastating news of his demise via a phone call.
TMZ initially reported the tragic incident of Warner’s accidental drowning at the age of 54 while on a trip to Costa Rica with his daughter. The absence of lifeguards at the beach where the incident occurred led to his untimely death, as he was unable to be resuscitated after being pulled from the water.
The Costa Rican Red Cross confirmed that the 29-year-old Nicaraguan individual involved in the drowning incident alongside Malcolm was treated and discharged without complications.
Efforts to obtain comments from Warner’s representatives are ongoing, with no response received thus far.
