Malcolm-Jamal Warner’s mother, Pamela Warner, has finally spoken out about her son’s tragic passing. In a heartfelt Instagram post shared nearly three weeks after his drowning in Costa Rica, she described Malcolm as a kind and loving man with a passion for humanity. Pamela also highlighted his roles as a husband, father, son, teacher, coach, confidant, business partner, and best friend.
She went on to emphasize that Malcolm was not just an actor but also a talented poet and musician. He had released four albums with his jazz-funk band Miles Long and even won a Grammy in 2015 for his work on Robert Glasper’s R&B song “Jesus Children.”
Malcolm-Jamal Warner was widely known for his role as Theodore Huxtable on “The Cosby Show” and had a successful television career. His sudden death sparked an outpouring of tributes from friends, fans, and former co-stars.
Authorities confirmed that Malcolm-Jamal Warner passed away from accidental asphyxiation by submersion while swimming at Playa Grande in Cahuita, Costa Rica. Pamela closed her statement with a poignant message of acceptance, reassuring those who mourned Malcolm’s departure that he was at peace and did not suffer.
She reflected on the fact that Malcolm came into the world through water and departed in the same way, signifying the completion of his mission on earth. Pamela encouraged everyone to hold onto the memories of Malcolm that had touched their lives.
