Man, 39, stabbed in New Year’s Day violent clash near NYC’s High Line: cops

A violent clash on New Year’s Day left a 39-year-old man stabbed in the arm and hip near the High Line in Manhattan. The incident occurred around 6:50 a.m. in front of an apartment building on West 28th Street near Tenth Avenue. The victim was taken to Bellevue Hospital and is currently in stable condition.

The attacker, described as an unidentified individual, fled the scene after the stabbing. Police have not provided a description of the suspect or confirmed if the victim and attacker knew each other. The motive behind the altercation remains unknown.

In a separate incident later in the morning, a 40-year-old man was stabbed during a brawl in Queens. The victim sustained injuries to his chest and stomach around 10:35 a.m. at the corner of Woodward Avenue and Menahan Street in Ridgewood. He was transported to Wyckoff Heights Medical Center in critical but stable condition.

The assailant involved in the Queens stabbing also fled the scene, and no arrests have been made as of now. These incidents occurred amidst a series of violent crimes that took place on New Year’s Day, including multiple shootings resulting in fatalities. The police are actively investigating these cases to ensure justice is served and the perpetrators are apprehended.
