Chicago Man Charged with Aggravated Robbery and Attempted Armed Robbery on Sox-35th Red Line Platform

A 19-year-old Chicago man, Curtis Edwards, is facing charges of aggravated robbery and attempted armed robbery in connection with incidents involving two women on the Sox-35th Red Line platform.

According to prosecutors, the incidents occurred around 7 a.m. on June 2, when Edwards targeted the women who were seated on the platform near Sox Park.

Edwards first approached the first victim, displaying a handgun tucked in his waistband and demanding her property. Despite his threats, he left without obtaining anything from her.

Shortly after, Edwards allegedly approached a second woman on the platform, indicating he was armed and demanding her belongings. The victim handed over her makeup bag, but Edwards returned a short while later to take her wallet and iPhone from her purse. He then fled on a southbound Red Line train.

Following his arrest by Chicago police last week, Edwards reportedly made “admissions” during an interview with detectives. Judge Shauna Boliker ordered Edwards to be detained pending trial.
