Man searching for grandkids after daughter slaughtered by cult leader
A heartbreaking tragedy has struck a Kansas family as a mother of four young children was brutally murdered, allegedly by her husband, who is a self-proclaimed cult leader known as the “Silver Creek Messiah.” The victim, La’Datra Williams, 26, had expressed her determination to leave Charles Sims and his polygamous cult before her untimely death.
Eddie Williams, La’Datra’s father and a U.S. veteran, is now on a desperate search for his four grandchildren, who are missing since their mother’s murder. Sims, who claims to be ordained by God and a vessel for the Holy Spirit, has been charged with first-degree murder for La’Datra’s killing.
According to sources, Sims’ other wives, who number four in total, may have taken the children to Missouri. The authoritarian leader confessed to the murder after being questioned for several days and led authorities to La’Datra’s remains, which were found in a shallow grave on July 14.
Lawrence County Sheriff Ryan Everett revealed that Sims has between 22 and 31 children, including La’Datra’s four kids. The cult leader’s group has been described as displaying “cult-like tendencies,” with members engaging in strange rituals such as shaving their heads for new growth and mud baths for wrongdoing.
La’Datra’s cause of death was determined to be blunt force trauma. Her father, Eddie Williams, shared that she had been groomed by Sims from a young age, starting when she was a teenager. Williams, who raised La’Datra as a single father after her mother passed away from childbirth complications, was unaware of the extent of her relationship with Sims.
Despite the tragic circumstances, Williams had been looking forward to having La’Datra and her children live with him. He had even encouraged her to pursue her education and improve her life. La’Datra had decided to end her relationship with Sims in May, but tragically never returned.
As the investigation into Sims’ cult continues, authorities are looking into other deaths and disappearances connected to the group. A GoFundMe campaign has been set up to cover the costs of La’Datra’s funeral, which is scheduled for August 16. The community has rallied together, raising close to $5,000 to support the family during this difficult time. Sims remains in custody with no bond as the legal proceedings unfold.
