Man snatches woman off street at random caught on video
The shocking incident of a young woman fighting off a balaclava-clad attacker in Hove, near Brighton in the UK, has left the community reeling. The harrowing footage captured the moment when Cameron Boxall, 22, attempted to drag his victim off the street and into a stolen car before driving off.
The courageous 20-year-old woman screamed out in terror, resisting her attacker as he tried to pull her into the back seat of a Mini Cooper. Despite her fear, she bravely fought back, kicking and punching Boxall until he eventually kicked her out of the car. A passer-by found her in a state of shock and came to her aid.
Following the incident, Boxall was sentenced to five years in prison after admitting to kidnapping the woman, stealing a car, and possessing marijuana. He was also issued an indefinite restraining order against his victim.
In a statement, the victim expressed her trauma, stating that she felt like she had “lost her freedom” and struggled to comprehend the level of violence used against her. She bore physical injuries from the attack, including bruises, scratches, and a lump on her head.
The court heard that Boxall had targeted the woman, pretending to ask for directions before attempting to force her into the stolen car. Despite his claims that he intended to rob her to settle a drug debt, her handbag was found untouched at the scene.
Detective Jack Sagar from the Surrey and Sussex Major Crime Team described Boxall as a “dangerous, violent offender” and a “dangerous predator” who preyed on an innocent young woman. He commended the victim for her strength and bravery throughout the ordeal.
In the UK, there were 7,277 recorded kidnapping offenses in 2023-24, highlighting the prevalence of such crimes in the country. Comparatively, Australia saw 501 recorded kidnapping victims in the same year.
The incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers that lurk in society and the importance of remaining vigilant and prepared to defend oneself against potential threats. It also underscores the resilience and courage of individuals who refuse to be victims and fight back against their attackers.
