Mandalorian’s Katee Sackhoff Didn’t Work for 3 Years, Lost Confidence
Katee Sackhoff, best known for her role as Bo-Katan Kryze in “The Mandalorian,” recently opened up about the challenges she faced while playing the character and finding work in the industry. In a candid discussion on her podcast, “The Sackhoff Show,” she revealed how portraying Bo-Katan had a significant impact on her confidence.
Sackhoff confessed, “I lost all of my confidence after ‘Mandalorian,’ all of it. I’ve always played characters that were somewhat connected to who I am as a person, but Bo-Katan was a whole different challenge. I struggled to understand her motivations and couldn’t fully embody her essence. It was a departure from my usual acting style, which made it even more daunting.”
The actress originally voiced Bo-Katan in the animated series “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” before bringing the character to life in “The Mandalorian” Season 2. Her role was expanded in Season 3, where she shared the spotlight with lead actor Pedro Pascal. Despite the success of the show, Sackhoff revealed that she faced a dry spell in her career following the release of Season 3 in 2023.
“It broke me. It just broke me,” she admitted. “I struggled with auditions and couldn’t book any roles. For three years, I felt lost and defeated.” Determined to bounce back, Sackhoff sought the help of a new manager and acting coach who focused on rebuilding her confidence and reconnecting with her instincts.
Since then, the actress has started to regain her footing in the industry. In 2024, she made a guest appearance on “Law & Order” and lent her voice to animated series. Additionally, she is set to star in the upcoming “Carrie” series on Prime Video. Through perseverance and guidance, Sackhoff is slowly but surely finding her way back to her true self.
