Maniac slashes stranger on NYC subway with boxcutter, gets out on bail
A violent incident occurred inside a Brooklyn subway station when a maniac attacked a stranger with a boxcutter after an accidental bump. Caleb Polidore, 26, allegedly slashed a 33-year-old man in the face, neck, and chest at the 53rd Street R train station in Sunset Park around 1 p.m. The altercation escalated from a verbal clash near the turnstile area to a physical attack in the mezzanine.
The victim was hospitalized in stable condition, while Polidore fled the scene but was swiftly apprehended by police officers who recovered the weapon. Polidore faced charges of assault, attempted assault, criminal possession of a weapon, menacing, and harassment as per the criminal complaint.
Despite the severity of the charges, Polidore was released on bail set at $3,000 cash or $20,000 bond, exceeding the prosecution’s recommendation of $10,000 cash or $20,000 bond. He was able to post bail promptly and is scheduled to appear in court on January 2.
