Maserati-driving robbery crew strikes again in River North, Near West Side
Robbery Crew Strikes Multiple Times in Downtown Chicago
A robbery crew has been wreaking havoc in downtown Chicago neighborhoods this month, with three more incidents reported on Tuesday morning. The crew, consisting of armed men, targeted victims in various locations, resorting to violent tactics to steal their belongings.
Recent Robberies
The first incident on Tuesday occurred at 5:30 a.m. on the Near West Side. A man was confronted by four armed individuals, who proceeded to pistol-whip him and steal his wallet and phone before fleeing in a black SUV. The victim sought help from a nearby resident after the attack.
Thirty minutes later, the crew struck again in River North, holding two men at gunpoint and demanding their belongings before fleeing the scene. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in this second robbery.
These incidents follow a pattern of similar crimes near the Magnificent Mile, including a robbery on Monday where a 64-year-old man was targeted as he exited his vehicle. The crew, driving a black SUV, stole valuables from the man and also threatened two bystanders before fleeing the scene.
Previous Incidents
Prior to these recent robberies, the crew targeted victims on East Chicago Avenue and West Walton Street in separate incidents earlier in the month. Victims lost expensive items such as watches, jewelry, purses, and wallets in these attacks, with the offenders using deceptive tactics to get close to their targets.
Suspect Description
The offenders are described as Black males aged between 16 and 35, wearing dark clothing and masks. In some instances, they were seen wearing white or red face masks during the robberies.
Authorities have issued a community alert urging residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity. The investigation into these robberies is ongoing, with law enforcement working to apprehend the perpetrators and prevent further incidents.
