Masked crew nabs $14K in electronics from NYC charter school in late-night heist: cops, sources
A recent heist at a Bronx charter school left authorities searching for a masked and hooded crew who made off with approximately $14,000 worth of electronics. The daring burglary took place at the American Dream Charter School in Mott Haven, with the thieves gaining access through an open door on the roof.
Surveillance images released by the NYPD show two of the suspects involved in the late-night heist. The incident occurred around 11:15 p.m. on January 4 at the school located on East 141 Street near Brook Avenue. The culprits managed to snatch a walkie-talkie, laptops, speakers, and graphing calculators before fleeing through the front door. They were captured on camera pushing the stolen items on rolling office chairs as they made their getaway.
Authorities are unsure if the thieves had any affiliation with the school, which caters to students in grades 6 through 12. Investigators are urging anyone with information on the suspects’ identities or whereabouts to contact the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or 1-888-57-PISTA (74782) for Spanish speakers. Tips can also be submitted online through the Crime Stoppers website or via @NYPDTips on social media.
The brazen robbery has left school officials and the local community on edge, prompting increased security measures to prevent future incidents. The stolen electronics are valued at a significant amount, and the school is working with law enforcement to recover the items and bring the perpetrators to justice.
