Matlock and Elsbeth’s Multiples Episodes During CBS Premiere Week Explained
CBS is gearing up for its premiere week with new episodes of all its shows, but fans are left wondering why both “Matlock” and “Elsbeth” are dropping multiple new episodes just days apart.
The network surprised viewers by airing the season 2 premiere of “Matlock” on Sunday, October 12, followed by the season 3 premiere of “Elsbeth”. While these shows typically air on Thursdays, CBS decided to kick off the season with a special preview on Sunday, before reverting to their regular timeslots starting October 16.
This strategy is not new for CBS, as they have previously previewed certain shows outside of their usual timeslots to create excitement and anticipation for the upcoming season.
In addition to “Matlock” and “Elsbeth”, viewers can look forward to the return of popular shows like the NCIS franchise, “The Neighborhood”, “Watson”, “FBI”, “Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage”, “Ghosts”, “Fire Country”, and “Tracker”. The network also has new programming lined up, including “DMV”, “Sheriff Country”, “Boston Blue”, and “The Road”.
One show that fans are eagerly awaiting is “Fire Country”, which is returning to its Friday night slot. Creators Tony Phelan and Joan Rater recently discussed the changes the show will undergo following the exits of Stephanie Arcila and Billy Burke. Phelan mentioned a desire to shake things up and stay true to the reality of writing a show about firefighters. Rater teased that the loss of a key character will have a significant impact on season 4.
Meanwhile, on “Tracker”, Justin Hartley, Fiona Rene, and Chris Lee remain the only series regulars after Eric Graise and Abby McEnany exited ahead of season 3. The show previously saw Robin Weigert depart after season 1.
As fans speculate about future cast changes, executive producer Elwood Reid assured viewers that onscreen shakeups are a possibility. He emphasized the importance of evolving the characters and avoiding falling into a formulaic storytelling approach. Reid stated that they didn’t want “Tracker” to become complacent and teased that Colter will encounter new challenges and interact with interesting guest characters in the upcoming season.
With a lineup of exciting premieres and potential character developments, CBS’s premiere week is shaping up to be a must-watch event for fans of all their favorite shows.
