Mattel unveils He-Man action figures ahead of ‘Masters of the Universe’, seeking to repeat ‘Barbie’ success
Mattel Launches New Line of Action Figures for “Masters of the Universe” Movie
Mattel unveiled a new collection of action figures for its upcoming live-action film “Masters of the Universe,” following the success of the 2023 hit movie “Barbie.”
The toymaker is working on over a dozen movies to breathe new life into its brands and generate excitement among fans.
This new movie release follows the massive success of “Barbie,” which earned over $1.4 billion globally and received an Academy Award.
The toy launch is in response to the overwhelming popularity of the teaser trailer released last week, which has already garnered over 30 million views on YouTube.
Roberto Stanichi, Mattel’s Chief Global Brand Officer, expressed that there is a strong sense of nostalgia surrounding the toy line’s origins in the 1980s. “We’ve been waiting for the perfect moment to reintroduce it in a way that honors its legacy,” he shared at the Nuremberg International Toy Fair in Germany.
The decision to revive the “Masters of the Universe” brand was influenced by Mattel’s collaboration with an exceptional team led by Oscar-nominated director Travis Knight, according to Stanichi.
