Max Holloway retains UFC BMF title, spoils Dustin Poirier’s retirement fight
Max Holloway lived up to his promise of playing spoiler as he defeated Dustin Poirier in a thrilling main event at UFC 318 in New Orleans. The Hawaiian fighter retained his UFC BMF Championship in a hard-fought unanimous decision victory at the Smoothie King Center.

Featherweight contender Patricio Freire also secured a victory at UFC 318, defeating Dan Ige by unanimous decision after a dominant performance that included five takedowns. The main card opened with another upset as Michael Johnson outclassed Daniel Zellhuber in lightweight action, landing 81 strikes en route to a third consecutive win.
