‘Maya the Bee’ Set for a Brand Revamp With Kids Banner Animaj
Animaj, the AI-powered kids media company founded by former Google and YouTube executive Gregory Dray, has recently acquired the iconic children’s brand, “Maya the Bee,” which celebrated its 50th anniversary last year. This strategic alliance with Studio 100 International aims to reimagine and shape the future of the beloved franchise.
Utilizing their proprietary GenAI production tools and data-driven insights, Animaj plans to expand the presence of “Maya the Bee” across new platforms, formats, and global audiences. This move is part of Animaj’s international strategy to acquire international IPs and transform them into global franchises. With recent investments from HarbourView Equity Partners and Bpifrance, Animaj is well-positioned to drive the growth of “Maya the Bee.”
Under the terms of the deal, Animaj has acquired all of Studio 100’s rights to “Maya the Bee” outside certain regions, excluding feature film and theme park rights. While Animaj focuses on digital expansion and international licensing, Studio 100 will lead new theatrical movie productions and theme park initiatives.
Prior to this acquisition, Animaj also acquired the Spanish show “Pocoyo,” demonstrating their commitment to iconic children’s content. Since its launch in May 2022, Animaj has secured significant investments from various funds, positioning them as a key player in the kids and family entertainment industry.
