McDonald’s is bringing back its iconic Monopoly Game after almost a decade, offering customers a chance to win free food and prizes through a sweepstakes inspired by the classic board game. The promotion, now with a digital component, runs from Oct. 6 to Nov. 2 and features game pieces that can be collected by peeling stickers on in-store items or making purchases through the McDonald’s app.
Players have the opportunity to win a variety of prizes, ranging from free Quarter Pounders with cheese to a $1,000,000 cash prize or a 2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The odds of winning an instant prize, mostly consisting of eligible food items from the McDonald’s menu, are one in five, according to the company’s website.
“Our fans have been eagerly awaiting the return of MONOPOLY at McDonald’s, and we’re excited to bring it back with a modern, digital twist,” said Alyssa Buetikofer, SVP, chief marketing and customer experience officer at McDonald’s. “This game holds special memories for many customers, and we’re thrilled to create new memories that can be shared across generations.”
How to Play
To participate in the 2025 version of McDonald’s Monopoly Game, customers need to download the McDonald’s app, opt into the rewards program, and register for the game. Pre-registering between Sept. 29 and Oct. 5 will earn players 500 bonus MyMcDonald’s Rewards points. Starting on Oct. 6, registered players can order select menu items to receive game pieces.
Physical game pieces can be obtained by visiting a participating McDonald’s restaurant in the U.S. or ordering McDonald’s delivery. These pieces need to be scanned and redeemed on the app to reveal the prize or saved to combine with other pieces. Digital game pieces can be acquired by ordering through the app or using a McDonald’s reward code to make a purchase.
Prizes
In addition to food items, McDonald’s prize list includes a range of rewards, such as cash prizes, trips to popular destinations, gift cards, and shopping sprees. Some of the prizes include a trip for four to Universal Orlando Resort, a $10,000 Lowe’s shopping spree, a 2026 WinnebagoView motorhome, and more. McDonald’s Monopoly Game first launched in 1987 and has become a beloved tradition for customers. The game garnered renewed attention in 2020 through the HBO docu-series “McMillion$,” which uncovered a major scam involving the theft and sale of McDonald’s Monopoly game pieces by con artist Jerome P. Jacobson.
