Meg Stalter and Paul W. Downs Spoof ‘Marty Supreme’ Premiere Look

The red carpet at the Critics Choice Awards was filled with laughter and fun as “Hacks” stars Meg Stalter and Paul W. Downs decided to spice things up with their bright orange vinyl outfits. The duo’s outfits were a playful spoof of the eye-catching ensembles worn by Timothée Chalamet and Kylie Jenner at the premiere of Chalamet’s latest film “Marty Supreme.”

Downs sported a ping pong paddle as a crossbody accessory, while Stalter rocked a massive cross necklace reminiscent of Jenner’s iconic piece at the “Marty Supreme” premiere. The film, set in the 1950s, follows the journey of an ordinary man striving to become the world champion of ping pong. Chalamet and Jenner had turned heads with their orange ensembles, continuing the orange theme that has been prominent in the marketing of the A24 movie.

As co-creator and executive producer of “Hacks” alongside Lucia Aniello and Jen Statsky, Downs expressed that their goal was simply to have a good time and enjoy the awards ceremony. “Hacks” received a nomination for best comedy series, with Downs also being nominated for comedy supporting actor at the Critics Choice Awards, which honor excellence in film and television. Chalamet and “Marty Supreme” were also among the nominees.

Speaking to Variety on the red carpet, Downs shared that they were excited to be surrounded by people who create movies they admire. The duo chose to have fun with their outfits, with Downs noting that the waterproof vinyl material came in handy amidst the heavy rain in Southern California.

Downs praised “Marty Supreme,” directed by Josh Safdie, giving it two thumbs up. Stalter, on the other hand, confessed that she hadn’t seen the film yet, despite being friends with Jenner. The pair revealed their “sushi Fridays” tradition, where they enjoy sushi together at least once a month. Stalter mentioned that these outings are exclusive to the girls, with Chalamet not usually joining them.

When asked if Chalamet would ever guest star on “Hacks,” Downs expressed openness to the idea, stating that they would find a suitable role for him. The duo’s playful and light-hearted approach to the awards ceremony added a touch of humor to the event, showcasing their camaraderie and willingness to have a good time.
