Micah Parsons eats pregame nachos, rests on medical table as Cowboys contract drama takes wild turn

Micah Parsons, the star linebacker for the Dallas Cowboys, found himself in the midst of a contract standoff that took a bizarre turn during the team’s final preseason game. Parsons, who is seeking a lucrative multi-year extension, made headlines for his antics at AT&T Stadium before the Cowboys faced off against the Falcons.

The two-time All-Pro was spotted walking the halls of the stadium, casually munching on nachos, much to the amusement of onlookers. One bold Atlanta fan even called out to Parsons, suggesting he join the Falcons, to which Parsons responded with a playful “call me” gesture.

As the game progressed, things only got stranger. Parsons, the only player not in uniform, made his way onto the field dressed in a navy hoodie with gray sleeves. He was later seen reclining on the medical table while his teammates were on offense.

After the game, Parsons took to social media to address the speculation surrounding his actions. He emphasized that he never intended to disrespect his teammates and was only lying on the table for a brief period. Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer admitted he was unaware of Parsons’ off-field activities as he was focused on the game itself.

However, concerns arose about Parsons’ availability for Week 1 due to a back issue. Cornerback Trevon Diggs revealed that Parsons had undergone an MRI for his back and was experiencing soreness. Owner and general manager Jerry Jones dismissed the back problem as part of the negotiation tactics surrounding Parsons’ contract extension.

Jones expressed his commitment to keeping Parsons on the team and brushed off any trade rumors as “BS.” He also pointed fingers at Parsons’ agent, David Mulugheta, claiming that the agent had been difficult to negotiate with. Mulugheta refuted these claims, stating that he never made such remarks to Jones or any other team officials.

Parsons, who is currently playing on his fifth-year rookie contract option, is rumored to be seeking a deal similar to T.J. Watt’s recent lucrative contract with the Steelers. The Cowboys have the option to franchise tag him for the next two seasons to prevent him from hitting free agency.

In the midst of the contract standoff and the drama surrounding Parsons’ antics, the Cowboys are left with a lingering question mark over the star linebacker’s future with the team. As the regular season approaches, all eyes will be on Parsons and the Cowboys as they navigate through this turbulent period.
