Minnesota lawmakers shooting suspect Vance Boelter due in court Monday

Vance Boelter, the man suspected of a fatal shooting that targeted lawmakers in Minnesota, is set to make an appearance in a Minneapolis court on Monday. Boelter, 57, was apprehended near his farm in Green Isle, Minnesota, and was taken into custody at Hennepin County Jail around 1 a.m. on Monday. A photo of the suspect taken during the booking process was released along with online records.

According to court documents, Boelter is facing two counts of murder and two counts of attempted murder. He is scheduled to appear in a downtown courtroom at 1:30 p.m. on Monday. The arrest comes after a massive law enforcement search for the suspect, who is accused of fatally shooting Minnesota state Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband, as well as launching a separate attack on Sen. John Hoffman and his spouse.

During a search of Boelter’s vehicle following the shootings, police allegedly discovered a target list containing the names of numerous Minnesota Democrats, including Gov. Tim Walz, U.S. Rep. Ilhan Omar, U.S. Sen. Tina Smith, and state Attorney General Keith Ellison, according to sources in law enforcement.
