Mipcom:Banijay Asia Partners + Talpa; Nippon TV Format Re-Ups in Italy
Banijay Asia, a prominent production company, has recently entered into a two-year agreement with Talpa Studios, a Dutch production group, to bring a range of unscripted formats to the Indian and Thai markets. Talpa Studios is known for its successful shows like “The Floor,” “The Quiz with Balls,” “The Alliance,” and “Most Wanted.”
Under this partnership, Banijay Asia will introduce Talpa Studios’ shows and creative concepts to broadcasters and streaming platforms in India and Thailand. The goal is to adapt and produce these formats to cater to the preferences of the local audience.
Deepak Dhar, the founder and CEO of Banijay Asia, expressed his excitement about the collaboration, stating that they are looking forward to working closely with Talpa Studios to bring innovative concepts to the Indian and Thai viewers. On the other hand, Maarten Meijs, the CEO of Talpa Studios, highlighted the potential of the Asian market for unscripted entertainment and praised Banijay Asia for their ability to localize global formats successfully.
In related news, Talpa Studios’ latest quiz show, “Caught in the Middle,” has been commissioned for local versions in the Netherlands and Australia. The show, created by John de Mol, features a unique concept where a duo competes against 100 opponents by answering questions to outsmart the crowd and win a jackpot prize.
The Dutch version of “Caught in the Middle” is set to premiere on SBS6 in January 2026, while the Australian edition will be produced by Eureka Productions in partnership with Talpa Studios. The show has been described as fresh, unpredictable, and full of suspense by Angus Ross, the managing director for TV at Seven Group.
In another development, Nippon TV’s popular format “Red Carpet Survival” is returning for a second season in Italy, under the title “Red Carpet, Vip al tappeto” on Prime Video. The show, which combines glamour, comedy, and high-stakes challenges, features celebrities facing various obstacles as they walk down the red carpet.
The upcoming season in Italy promises new celebrity guests and exclusive challenges in a surprising new location. Sayako Aoki, Nippon TV’s head of international sales, emphasized the company’s commitment to bringing premium formats to global audiences through partnerships with experienced production teams.
