‘Monster’ rock-thrower who fractured skull of 8-year-old girl on school bus is an illegal migrant from Mexico: DHS

The recent incident involving a man throwing a rock at a school bus from a New Jersey Turnpike overpass has shocked the community. The man responsible for this heinous act is identified as Hernando Garcia-Morales, a 40-year-old illegal immigrant from Mexico with a troubling criminal history.

On January 7, Garcia-Morales allegedly threw a baseball-sized rock at a school bus carrying children back from a field trip to the Liberty Science Center. This despicable act resulted in the fracturing of the skull of an 8-year-old girl on the bus. When he was apprehended two days later at a homeless encampment in Palisades Park, NJ, Garcia-Morales claimed he believed the bus was “the devil or his enemy.”

According to federal officials, Garcia-Morales should not have been in the country in the first place. The Department of Homeland Security disclosed that he has a long record of criminal activities in New Jersey dating back two decades. In 2006, he was arrested for possession of a weapon and theft. He had encounters with the law in 2023 but was not charged due to the state’s sanctuary policies.

In July 2023, Garcia-Morales was arrested for burglary in Hackensack, NJ, but the charges were not pursued. He was arrested again the following day for giving false information and attempted burglary, resulting in a lenient sentence of 30 days in jail and a fine for disorderly conduct. Despite his violent behavior and illegal status, Garcia-Morales was never deported due to New Jersey’s sanctuary policies.

Garcia-Morales is also a suspect in several other rock-throwing incidents targeting cars and police officers. He has been accused of peeping into homes in Bogota, NJ, on two occasions. His actions have raised concerns about public safety, prompting calls for stricter enforcement of immigration laws and policies.

Following his arrest for the school bus incident, Garcia-Morales has been charged with aggravated assault, resisting arrest, possession of a weapon, criminal trespassing, and criminal mischief. His lawyer claims he suffers from mental illness, but the severity of his actions cannot be overlooked.

The young girl who was injured in the attack is now recovering at home after undergoing surgery to repair her skull fracture. Her family and supporters hope that Garcia-Morales will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law for his heinous actions. The case is ongoing, and Garcia-Morales remains in Bergen County jail awaiting trial.

The community remains on edge as they grapple with the senseless violence perpetrated by Garcia-Morales. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the need for comprehensive immigration reform and stricter enforcement of laws to protect innocent individuals from harm.
