More than 120,000 Jeep Grand Cherokees recalled over faulty passenger headrests

Stellantis, the parent company of Chrysler, has issued a recall for 121,398 Jeep Grand Cherokees due to a safety concern with the second-row headrests. The faulty headrests may not lock in the upright position, which could increase the risk of injury to passengers in the event of a crash. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration posted a recall notice regarding this issue on Wednesday.

According to the notice, a folded forward head restraint could pose a greater risk of injury to seat occupants during certain types of crashes. The recall affects specific 2023-2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Jeep Grand Cherokee L vehicles. Owners of the affected vehicles are advised to take their Jeep Grand Cherokee to their local dealer for inspection. If necessary, the second-row seat headrests will be replaced free of charge.

Notification letters will be sent to vehicle owners on September 5th, and owners can reach out to FCA US (Stellantis North America) customer service at 1-800-853-1403 for more information. The recall number for this issue is 20C. Additionally, owners can contact the NHTSA safety hotline at 1-888-327-4236 or visit www.nhtsa.gov for further assistance. The NHTSA recall number for this specific issue is 25V-472.

This is not the first recall issued by Stellantis for Jeep vehicles. In January, over 63,000 Jeep Cherokees were recalled due to a defect that could cause the vehicles to lose power and hinder parking.

As always, it is crucial for vehicle owners to address recalls promptly to ensure their safety and the safety of others on the road. Stay informed about any recalls related to your vehicle and take the necessary steps to address them promptly. Your safety is paramount.
