Mother and stepfather arrested for alleged child abuse amid search for missing Oklahoma boy
The disappearance of 12-year-old Ryan Davis in Oklahoma has sent shockwaves through the community, with authorities now focusing on his mother and stepfather who have been arrested on charges of child abuse. Ryan was last seen on January 2 in Chickasha, prompting an endangered missing advisory to be issued by the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI).
The investigation took a grim turn when it was revealed that Ryan’s mother, Kimberly Cole, and stepfather, George Cole, were taken into custody late Wednesday night on child abuse, child sexual abuse, and conspiracy complaints. OSBI spokesperson Hunter McKee described the situation as “extremely sad” and “horrific,” indicating that there was apparent harm done to the child while he was living with his parents.
Despite the arrests, the urgent search for Ryan continues, with authorities offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to his safe return. The search efforts have involved drones, canines, and other resources, focusing on a rural area between Caddo and Grady counties. Multiple law enforcement agencies are actively involved in the search, following up on tips and leads in hopes of locating Ryan.
McKee emphasized that they believe Ryan is still alive and are doing everything possible to find him. The child has gone missing before, adding another layer of complexity to the investigation. Law enforcement has been coordinating with the state’s human services department to ensure Ryan’s well-being once he is located.
Chickasha Chief Goebel Music expressed the importance of providing Ryan with the necessary medical and emotional care, assuring him that he will not be returning to the harmful environment he was in. The Coles, who are currently in custody at Caddo County Jail, have not yet been charged, leaving many questions unanswered.
Prior to their arrest, Kimberly Cole expressed her desire to have her son back home, highlighting the emotional toll the situation has taken on the family. Ryan’s last confirmed sighting was on foot at an intersection in Chickasha, wearing a red and black plaid shirt, dark jeans, and brown steel-toe boots. Anyone with information is urged to contact the OSBI tip line at 800-522-8017 to help bring Ryan safely home.
