Motorola Edge 60 Review: Stuck in The Middle

Motorola Edge 60 Review: Is it Worth the Price?

The Motorola Edge family offers three similar devices at different price points: the Edge 60 Fusion, Edge 60, and Edge 60 Pro. In this review, we focus on the Edge 60, which sits in the middle of the lineup. Priced at £379.99, it offers some upgrades over the Fusion model, primarily in the camera department.

Design & Build:
The Edge 60 features a unique design with a faux canvas finish in Pantone Gibraltar Sea color. The soft-touch texture provides a good grip, and the phone is IP68/IP69 certified for water and dust resistance. The MIL-STD 810H protection ensures durability against various environmental conditions. The 7.9mm slim profile and 179g weight make it comfortable to hold.

Screen & Speakers:
The 6.67-inch pOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate offers sharp and vibrant visuals. The stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos provide immersive sound quality. However, the curved display may affect touch responsiveness at the edges.

Specs & Performance:
Powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 chipset, the Edge 60 offers smooth performance with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. However, Wi-Fi performance may be patchy at times, affecting gaming experiences.

Cameras:
The Edge 60 boasts a 50MP main camera, a 50MP ultrawide/macro camera, a 10MP telephoto camera, and a 50MP selfie camera. The camera performance is generally good, although some images may struggle with exposure and HDR processing. The addition of a telephoto lens and macro mode adds versatility to the camera setup.

Battery Life & Charging:
With a 5200mAh battery and 68W wired charging, the Edge 60 offers fast charging speeds and good battery life. However, the lack of wireless charging may be a downside for some users.

Software & Apps:
The phone runs on Android 15 with Moto AI features. The software experience is close to stock Android, but the addition of Moto AI and bloatware apps may not appeal to everyone. The phone promises three OS updates and four years of security updates.

Price & Availability:
The Motorola Edge 60 is priced at £379.99 in the UK and is available through Motorola and Amazon. It competes with other mid-range phones like the Nothing Phone (3a) and Samsung Galaxy A36.

Verdict:
While the Motorola Edge 60 offers impressive features and performance, it struggles to justify its price point compared to other mid-range options. With better alternatives available in the market, it may not be the best choice for everyone.
