MTA bus crashes into multiple cars, injuring 7 in wild NYC scene that ‘looked like a movie’

A chaotic scene unfolded in the Bronx on Monday afternoon as a packed MTA bus crashed into several vehicles, injuring at least 7 people and causing passengers to panic. The incident occurred on East 163rd Street around 2 p.m. as the BX6 bus was traveling west.

Passengers inside the bus were captured on video screaming during the chaos, with some pleading for the door to be opened. In a moment of desperation, two passengers even resorted to escaping through a window as the bus came to a stop.

The 63-year-old bus driver and six adult passengers sustained minor injuries and were transported to local hospitals for treatment. Photos of the aftermath showed the shattered windshield and glass doors of the bus, as well as multiple damaged vehicles strewn on the street, including a severely crushed blue car with deployed airbags.

Witnesses described the bus operator colliding with six to seven vehicles and attempting to continue driving before being stopped by an unmarked police car. The sound of the impacts was reportedly loud and continuous, creating a scene that one witness likened to a movie set.

Emergency responders were quick to arrive at the scene, with at least one person seen being carried out on a stretcher. The severity of the injuries sustained by the individuals involved in the crash was evident, leaving witnesses shaken by the incident.

The MTA confirmed the crash and stated that the bus has been taken out of service as a result. As of now, no arrests have been made, and authorities are continuing their investigation into the cause of the accident. The community is left to grapple with the aftermath of the incident, hoping for a swift recovery for those injured and answers to the questions surrounding the crash.
