Mystery bearded man who appeared to cheer shooting of Charlie Kirk claims he chanted ‘USA’ to create ‘distraction’
The man who was seen celebrating in the crowd moments after conservative activist Charlie Kirk was shot has come forward to explain his actions. In a video posted on X, the man, who goes by David, claimed that he was actually shouting “USA” in an attempt to create a distraction that might help save lives.
According to David, when he first heard the loud crack, he thought it might have been fireworks or a prank. However, when he realized it was a firearm, he looked for smoke on the horizon and saw none. He then noticed his friend’s reaction and believed that Charlie Kirk had been gravely injured. David instinctively checked the security team’s movement before rising to his feet.
He explained that he stood and shouted “USA” not as a provocation, but to project strength, encourage others, and create a distraction to calm panic and potentially save lives. David admitted that he was only minimally familiar with Kirk’s content and would never wish harm on anyone.
In a follow-up video, David appeared agitated and expressed frustration with the mockery he perceived from media figures like John Oliver, Matt Walsh, and Steven Crowder. He claimed that this mockery was “killing my soldiers, my people,” although he did not specify who his soldiers were.
The alleged assassin, Tyler Robinson, was arrested in connection to the shooting that killed Kirk at the Utah Valley University event. The incident has sparked controversy and raised questions about security measures at public events.
As the investigation continues, David’s explanation sheds some light on the chaotic moments following the shooting. His actions, while initially misunderstood, were meant to create a diversion and potentially prevent further harm. The tragic event serves as a reminder of the importance of safety and security in public spaces, especially during politically charged events.
