NASCAR driver Denny Hamlin’s father killed, mother injured in North Carolina house fire

A tragic fire at the home of NASCAR driver Denny Hamlin’s parents has left his father dead and his mother injured, officials confirmed to ABC News. The incident took place in Gaston County, North Carolina, where firefighters responded to a call at 6:19 p.m. The two-story home was engulfed in flames, with the fire spreading throughout the entire attic.

Dennis Hamlin, 75, and Mary Lou Hamlin, 69, were found outside the residence, both suffering from catastrophic injuries while trying to escape the fire. They were rushed to a nearby hospital, where Dennis unfortunately succumbed to his injuries. Mary Lou was transferred to a burn center for further treatment and is currently receiving care.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, with authorities working diligently to determine what sparked the tragic incident. Denny Hamlin, a prominent NASCAR driver, is known for his success on the track, with 60 big-league victories to his name, including three Daytona 500 triumphs. Despite this personal tragedy, he continues to be a force to be reckoned with in the racing world.
