NEA sends 3M members disturbing map that completely ‘erases’ Israel

The National Education Association, the nation’s largest teachers union, recently sent out a troubling email to its 3 million members. The email contained a map that completely erased Israel, labeling it as Palestine instead. This shocking move was part of resources provided for “teaching about indigenous peoples.”

The email also included links to material that defended a horrific attack by Hamas on Israel in October 2023, which resulted in the deaths of 1,200 people and the kidnapping of 250 others to Palestine. The North American Values Institute expressed deep concern over the promotion of materials containing anti-Semitic tropes and attempts to justify terrorist activities.

Despite the NEA removing the offensive content from its website, a map from “Native Land Digital” still refers to Israel as “Palestine” and describes it as “indigenous” to the land. The NEA spokesperson blamed a third-party for the offensive content and stated that the union has always opposed anti-Semitism.

However, Steven Rosenberg of the institute criticized the NEA for quietly deleting the content without a transparent explanation or sincere apology. The Anti-Defamation League also condemned the union for sending out material that denies historical and present reality.

The blunder by the NEA occurred on the same day that a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas went into effect as part of a peace deal brokered by President Trump. The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of teaching facts and not rewriting history.
