Netflix Brazil Unveils Sintonia Spin-Off, Ronaldinho, Neymar Docs

Netflix has recently announced 10 new productions, featuring top Brazilian directors and production houses such as Fernando Coimbra, Gullane, O2 Filmes, and Boutique Filmes. These new releases are a significant addition to Netflix’s content library, especially in Brazil, which is one of its key markets globally.
Brazil holds the second position as Netflix’s biggest market with 20.6 million paid subscribers, surpassing countries like the U.K., Germany, and France. While Brazilian shows may not always have global appeal, some have managed to gain international viewership through the platform. The recent breakout hits include “Desperate Lies,” “Burning Betrayal,” “Senna,” “Bionic,” and “Good Morning, Veronica.”
The 10 new productions were unveiled on the eve of the Rio de Janeiro creativity forum Rio2C, where Netflix will host panels discussing the technological legacy of “Senna” and the power of reality show casting, exemplified by their own show “Stranded With My Mother-in-Law.”
Among the new releases, O2 Filmes is producing a high-tech docu-series titled “Brazil 70 – A Saga do Tri,” focusing on the key match plays and journeys of Brazilian soccer players during their FIFA World Cup triumph. Additionally, the popular Brazilian franchise “Sintonia” will receive a movie spin-off, continuing the story of Nando.
Director Fernando Coimbra and Gullane are collaborating on “Emergencia Radiactiva,” a mini-series inspired by a radioactive accident in history. Other highlights include biopics on soccer legends Ronaldinho and Neymar, as well as a fictional chronicle of a crime that shook Brazil, the Elize Matsunaga case.
Netflix’s investment in the Brazilian audiovisual market is evident through these new productions, which cover a wide range of genres and themes. From reality shows to documentaries and films, Netflix is expanding its content offerings to cater to a diverse audience and promote local storytelling.
The platform’s focus on Brazilian stories that resonate with local audiences while having global appeal is driving its success in the region. By showcasing authentic and culturally relevant content, Netflix aims to play a transformative role in Brazil’s audiovisual landscape.
Overall, the new productions announced by Netflix highlight the platform’s commitment to investing in quality content from Brazil and providing viewers with a wide variety of engaging and innovative shows and movies.
