New FBI video shows man sought in Brown University shooting walking near police after attack
The FBI recently released a video timeline in the investigation of a mass shooting at Brown University. The video shows the individual wanted for questioning walking near police just moments after the deadly attack. The security video captured the individual emerging onto Hope Street from the campus shortly after the shooting occurred at 4:03 p.m. local time.
As the individual crossed Hope Street, a police cruiser with its emergency lights flashing was seen pulling up near the scene of the shooting. The FBI circled the individual in blue crossing the street as a police officer approached the campus. Additional videos showed the same individual walking through a residential neighborhood near the campus before the shooting.
Providence Police Chief Colonel Oscar Perez stated that the person of interest was seen around the area earlier on the day of the shooting, indicating a possible premeditated act. The FBI has asked anyone who recognizes the individual in the video to come forward with information.
A reward of up to $50,000 has been issued for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the alleged gunman. The FBI released a poster with three images of the suspect and a description of a male approximately 5’8″ with a stocky build.
FBI Director Kash Patel announced additional resources and personnel deployed to track down leads and gather intelligence. The Evidence Response Team is processing the scene at the campus, with assistance from the Lab at Quantico.
Providence officials shared that two students were killed and nine others injured in the shooting. Seven patients remain at Rhode Island Hospital, with one in critical condition and five in critical but stable condition. State officials are working closely with law enforcement to ensure the safety and security of the city and campus.
Gov. Dan McKee expressed his eagerness to have the shooter identified and brought to justice, emphasizing the importance of collaboration between state and local authorities in resolving the case. The community remains vigilant as the investigation continues to unfold.
