New video details home raid of Oklahoma pediatrician Neha Gupta accused of drowning 4-year-old daughter in Florida
Dr. Neha Gupta, a pediatrician from Oklahoma, made headlines when she was arrested for the alleged murder of her 4-year-old daughter, Aria Talathi, in Florida. The shocking incident unfolded during a vacation in Miami, where Gupta called 911 to report an accidental drowning. However, a closer look revealed inconsistencies in her story.
Body camera footage released by the Oklahoma City Police Department showed the dramatic raid at Gupta’s home, where she was found hiding in a laundry room. Despite law enforcement’s demands to surrender, Gupta refused to open the door, leading them to break it down. She was eventually located in the laundry room and taken into custody.
The arrest came after an autopsy revealed that Talathi did not die from drowning but from asphyxiation by smothering. Further investigation found that she had injuries in her mouth and cheeks, indicating foul play. Gupta’s claim that she tried to rescue her daughter from the pool was contradicted by the absence of water in the child’s lungs and stomach.
Following the discovery, Miami homicide detectives obtained a warrant for Gupta’s arrest. She had already returned to Oklahoma by then, prompting a joint effort between Miami-Dade police, Oklahoma City Police Department, and US Marshals to track her down. Gupta was extradited back to Florida, where she is currently held without bond at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
Gupta is set to appear in court for her Florida arraignment hearing on August 7. Prior to the tragic incident, she had been fired from her job at Oklahoma Children’s Hospital and was embroiled in a custody battle with her ex-husband. The couple had divorced in 2024, with Gupta’s request for sole custody being denied by the court.
The case has shocked the community and raised questions about the circumstances surrounding Talathi’s death. As the legal proceedings unfold, more details are expected to come to light, shedding further light on this heartbreaking tragedy.
