New York Comedy Festival Sets Lineup for ‘Funniest Stand-Ups’ Event
The New York Comedy Festival has recently announced the lineup for the highly anticipated “New York’s Funniest Stand-Ups” showcase, a fresh take on a longstanding tradition of discovering the next big name in stand-up comedy.
Scheduled to take place on Wednesday, November 12th at 7 p.m., the event will be held at The Venue at Hard Rock Hotel in the iconic Times Square. The roster of talented comedians set to perform includes Geoffrey Asmus, Gabby Bryan, Jason Choi, Rocky Dale Davis, Lev Fer, Ontonio Kareem, Jaye McBride, Amber Singletary, Maddy Smith, and Joe Zimmerman.
For the past 16 years, the showcase was a competitive platform where comedians vied for the title of “New York’s Funniest Stand-Up.” Previous winners have gone on to achieve great success in the industry, with names like Nate Bargatze, Michael Che, Tim Dillon, Josh Johnson, and Ricky Velez gracing the stage. Now in its 17th year, the event will shift its focus to spotlighting emerging comedic talent in a showcase format.
Caroline Hirsch, the founder and owner of the New York Comedy Festival, expressed her excitement for the new direction of “New York’s Funniest Stand-Up,” stating, “This next chapter for the showcase is incredibly exciting for everyone involved – the comedians, the fans, and the industry. We are thrilled to partner with Threads, a platform that has gained significant traction in comedy and creator circles with over 350 million monthly users. Threads provides a space where comedians can showcase their raw, spontaneous, and hilarious talent. By collaborating with Threads, we aim to amplify these rising voices and help them connect with new fans and potential collaborators. This new showcase truly reflects the essence of comedy today: immediate, personal, and ubiquitous.”
In addition to the “New York’s Funniest Stand-Ups” showcase, the New York Comedy Festival will feature a star-studded lineup headlined by renowned comedians such as The Basement Yard, Hannah Berner, Michael Blackson, Louis C.K., Margaret Cho, Alex Edelman, Chris Fleming, Pete Holmes, Morgan Jay, Ismo, Ryan Long, Nurse John, Yohay Sponder, and the cast of “Strangers With Candy” including Stephen Colbert, Paul Dinello, and Amy Sedaris.
