New Yorker Brian Tarrence goes missing while on romantic vacation in Turks and Caicos with wife
A Manhattan man has gone missing in Turks and Caicos after leaving his Airbnb in the early morning while on a romantic vacation with his wife.
Brian Tarrence, 51, was captured on security footage leaving his rental in Grace Bay, Providenciales, and heading towards the downtown area around 3:30 a.m. on June 25, according to private investigator Carl DeFazio who spoke to News 12 Westchester.
DeFazio, hired by Tarrence’s family, mentioned that there were no signs of anything unusual leading up to his disappearance. The couple had been enjoying their vacation, going on boat trips and dining out like any other family.
However, on the night of his disappearance, Tarrence’s wife went to bed and when she woke up, her husband was nowhere to be found in the Airbnb.
Tarrence, who had recently relocated from Monroe, New York to Manhattan, arrived in Turks and Caicos with his wife on June 22 for a week-long vacation.
He was last seen leaving the rental wearing a T-shirt, shorts, and sneakers, with his cellphone and wallet in hand. DeFazio noted that the area where he disappeared is considered very safe.
The reason behind Tarrence’s sudden departure from the rental remains a mystery. DeFazio described it as bizarre, especially since his wife was asleep at the time.
Efforts are being made to track Tarrence’s phone activity on the island, although progress has been slow. The Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police are actively investigating his disappearance, utilizing drones and reviewing CCTV footage to trace his steps on the night he went missing.
Local businesses and vacationers have been supportive, offering assistance and distributing missing persons flyers with Tarrence’s image all over the island.
DeFazio stated that while foul play is not suspected at this time, all possibilities are being considered. He emphasized the importance of staying positive and not giving up hope in such cases.
Tarrence’s wife has chosen to remain in Turks and Caicos to aid in the search efforts. Anyone with information about Tarrence’s disappearance is urged to contact the authorities.
In March, the US State Department issued a travel advisory for tourists visiting Turks and Caicos, citing a rise in crime rates. Violent robberies and gun-related crimes have increased significantly in the region, prompting caution for travelers.
As the search for Brian Tarrence continues, his family and authorities are hopeful for his safe return.
