Nissan recalls nearly 643,000 vehicles over engine and transmission risks
Nissan Recalls Over 600,000 Rogue SUVs Due to Engine and Gear Issues
Nissan has announced two separate recalls affecting a total of 642,698 Rogue compact SUVs due to issues with the vehicles’ gears and engines that could lead to a loss of power. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has highlighted these safety concerns.
The first recall involves 323,917 Rogue vehicles from model years 2023-2025 that are equipped with 3-cylinder 1.5L variable-compression turbo (VC-Turbo) engines. According to the NHTSA, there is a risk of engine bearings failing, which could result in hot oil leaking and potentially causing a fire.
This recall is an extension of a previous recall issued by Nissan last June, which included over 480,000 Rogue, Infiniti, and Altima vehicles. The NHTSA found that manufacturing defects in certain models could lead to engine power loss while driving, increasing the risk of accidents.
The second recall affects 318,781 Rogues from model years 2024-2025 with the same type of variable-compression turbo engine. In these vehicles, there is a possibility of the gears in the electronic throttle body assembly breaking, which could pose a safety hazard on the road.
Both recalls will involve dealers inspecting the affected vehicles and providing free repairs. Nissan, headquartered in Japan, will be sending recall letters to affected owners on March 27, 2026. The recall numbers for these actions are R25E2 and R25E3.
