No. 17 Florida beats Texas A&M 86-67 in showdown for Southeastern Conference lead
The No. 17 Florida Gators dominated the Texas A&M Aggies in a crucial Southeastern Conference matchup, winning 86-67. Thomas Haugh led the charge for the Gators with 22 points, showcasing their strength and skill on the court.
The Gators showcased their size advantage by starting three players 6-foot-9 or taller against the Aggies’ four-guard lineup. This strategic move paid off as Florida outscored Texas A&M 48-24 in the paint and blocked seven shots. The Aggies struggled to convert on layups, making just nine out of 25 attempts.
Despite Texas A&M holding their own on the boards against the nation’s top rebounding team, Florida still managed to secure a 50-43 rebounding advantage. The Aggies struggled to convert their 19 offensive rebounds into second-chance points, only managing to score 11 points from those opportunities.
Marcus Hill and Pop Isaacs led the Aggies with 17 points each, but it wasn’t enough to overcome Florida’s dominance. Isaiah Brown contributed 12 points for the Gators, while Urban Klavzar, Rueben Chinyelu, and Xavian Lee all scored in double figures.
The Gators had a week to prepare for the Aggies and capitalized on their time off by securing their third straight win. On the other hand, Texas A&M has now suffered back-to-back losses and will look to bounce back in their next game against Missouri.
Looking ahead, Florida will face off against Georgia on Wednesday night, while Texas A&M will host Missouri in their upcoming matchup. Both teams will be looking to make adjustments and come out strong in their next games.
