North Carolina McDonald’s customer pulls boa constrictor from under drive-thru window

A surprising incident unfolded at a McDonald’s drive-thru in Cary, North Carolina, over the weekend when a large exotic snake was discovered on the premises. Talena Chavis, also known as the NC Snake Catcher, was summoned to the fast-food restaurant to handle the situation.

According to reports, a man and a woman at the drive-thru had contained the snake in a box after another customer had relocated it away from the delivery window. Initially mistaken for a python, Chavis was called in to assess and manage the situation with her husband.

Upon arrival, Chavis identified the snake as a boa constrictor, a species she had not encountered in her nine years of reptile-catching. The boa was nearly 4 feet long and believed to be female. Remarkably, the snake appeared well-nourished and tame, indicating it had recently been in captivity.

It was speculated that the snake had been abandoned or escaped from its previous owner, as no one came forward to claim ownership despite efforts to locate them. The couple who initially discovered the snake had attempted to contact local animal control, only to be informed that they did not handle exotic species.

After unsuccessful attempts to reunite the boa with its owner, one of Chavis’ employees decided to adopt the snake. However, the adoption is contingent on the original owner not coming forward to provide proof of ownership.

Chavis commended the couple for their quick thinking and intervention, ensuring a positive outcome for the displaced boa constrictor. She emphasized the importance of responsible pet ownership and proper handling of exotic animals to prevent such incidents in the future.

This unusual encounter at a McDonald’s drive-thru serves as a reminder of the diverse wildlife that can unexpectedly surface in urban environments, underscoring the need for trained professionals like Chavis to safely manage and relocate exotic species.
